Life is Beautiful, Live it the fullest
This girl is smart! Within a few days she knew when i was angry and mimicked my angry look. She had it down to the glaring eyes and furrowed forehead. Every time I gave her the angry look, she’d mimic me. After this, how could I ever get angry with her? (Video shot last summer at Kailash Parbat, Colaba.)

Following up on the Video: Making of Rava Dosa and Masala Dosa, here is the next installment of making Mysore Masala. I was surprised they spread a red chilli paste over the dosa, I had thought they sprinkle a spice blended podi (powder) as seen at the Shanbhag fast food place in Hospet, Karnataka. Delicious, nonetheless. A Mysore Masala Dosa at Kamats, Colaba costs Rs 38 (US 85 cents)! I want two, delivered.

Those who have ridden the Konkan Railway can attest, the rural countryside with emerald green fields is mesmerizing. I think of an early retirement in a village, a small house and running a school.
To share the genesis of this madness, I recorded the view. Here is a 67 second snippet, as the train crossed the Aghanashini River and approached the Kumta Train station. I recorded this from the doorway with my flip video, amidst the rain and rumbling of the train. Enjoy and tell me what you think.

Meera enjoys going to restaurants. She sits on the table and holds court; surveys other patrons and call out to them: Aye! At our favorite joint: the Kamats Restaurant in Colaba, the wait staff will entertain Meera while we eat. 🙂 Meera loves their idlis, poLo (dosas) and anything we drink.
One of our favorite drinks is the Limbu soda – sparkling lemonade. Meera loves it too. Enjoy the range of Meera’s expressions in this 46 sec video where she sips Limbu soda. *anti nazar* spray.
Notice Meera’s earring. These traditional Konkani “paakLi” were made for M when she was born. Her mother had saved them and got them cleaned and pointed for Meera.
Note: Limbu paani is the plain lemonade and available on most Mumbai streets.

When in Mumbai, we attended a puja at my aunt’s place in Jogeshwari. There we enjoyed a delicious south india lunch, served on banana leaves. Freshly made, warm puran polis, dribbled with home-made tuup (clarified butter), was one of many desserts. The catering crew were making it in the back. Enjoy the video.

Update: Taking Meera around Mumbai is scary. Folks sporting makeshift masks is a constant reminder of the H1N1 dangers. Schools, colleges and many shops are closed. Swine flu has subdued Mumbai!

Every evening we take Meera around Colaba Causeway, Gateway of India or Marine Drive. She loves going out, but is surprisingly very quiet. She is observant and looks with laser focus at people, dogs, cats or horses, or cars and buses. Meera doesn’t just look at people, she studies them, as if memorizing their features. Many of our relatives get uncomfortable at this scrutiny, by one so little. Of course she never forgets the folks she loves.
Meera is also fearless and wants to run around, but amma (M) has an unyieldingly tight grip on her.
And Meera’s first Video! She just heard the hoof beats of a horse-drawn cart (taangaa) passing by. See how her body imitates the riders sway, even before she sees and points to the horse! She loves horses!
